Dr. Lorange began his professional education at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business, later going on to receive an MA in Operations Management from Yale University and his PhD in Business Administration from Harvard University.

The student subsequently became the teacher as Dr. Lorange involved himself with many renowned educational institutions.  He was president of the Norwegian School of Management in Oslo. Before that, Dr. Lorange was affiliated with the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, on various assignments for more than a decade, including director of the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies, and The William H. Wurster Center for International Management Studies, as well as The William H. Wurster Professor of Multinational Management. He also taught for 8 years at the Sloan School of Management (M.I.T.).

Throughout his career, Dr. Lorange has brought his expertise to many sectors, but his areas of special interest lie in global strategic management, strategic planning and entrepreneurship for growth.  He has also conducted extensive research on multinational management, strategic planning processes, strategic control and alliances and internally generated growth processes, as well as having written or edited 15 books and some 110 articles.

Ever busy, Dr. Lorange currently serves on the board of directors of several corporations including: Christiania Eiendomsselskap, StreamServe, Zaruma Resources Inc, Preferred Global Health and Seaspan Corporation. He was also a board member of IMD and of the Copenhagen Business School.

Dr. Lorange was President of IMD from July 1, 1993 to March 31, 2008 and is the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Professor of International Shipping at IMD. His latest challenge has been to take on the role of Chairman at Globalpraxis.

Dr. Lorange is Norwegian and currently resides in Switzerland.
