During his 19 years with The Coca-Cola Company, José Manuel gained experience across all key business areas including marketing, finance, operations, customer & commercial leadership, supply chain, new product development, and R&D. He has extensive experience in China, where he was the commercial director for Coca-Cola, and in addition managed the water business, developed and launched a national rural expansion plan, and kicked off the e-commerce business for Coca-Cola. He possesses deep route-to-market, revenue growth management, and sales/operations experience, having launched more than 50 new products across all beverage categories and helped in starting up multiple new business models in developed and developing countries. Currently, he is the founder of Scipio & Co., which provides services in strategic and operational commercial solutions and retail analytics for clients in the fast-moving consumer goods and industrial sectors in China and the Asia Pacific region.

José is a results-oriented leader, with deep multicultural experience, strong cross-functional team management experience, and a clear passion for people development.

He holds an industrial engineering degree from ICAI (Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid) and has completed the Management Development Program at IESE (Barcelona).

José Manuel is Spanish and is fluent in Spanish and English, proficient in Portuguese, and speaks basic Chinese. He is married, has two children, and has lived in Shanghai for more than nine years. He enjoys reading, traveling, and surfing.
